It is difficult to label true angelic encounters as a haunting. Angels by definition are spiritual beings doing the work of a god. In the christian faith, there are only a few recorded accounts of a person having routine and extended encounters or physical interactions with angels. All other accounts show angelic encounters to generally be isolated one or two time happenings, and the angels are usually delivering a message. There have been accounts throughout history in which angels have been witnessed intervening to prevent tragedy or disaster, but these too are islolated events.
Because of the isolated nature of angelic encounters they are difficult to investigate. The investigator is generally left with nothing but antecdotal evidence and eye witness testimony, unable to gather any emperical evidence.
There is also an element of deception that can happen with alleged angelic encounters. There are numerous accounts, throughout history and in the folklores of almost every culture of people being befriended by spirits appearing as benevolent spirits or angelic figures.
