The Legacy Paranormal Philosophy
We are often questioned about our philosophy on the paranormal, and on paranormal investigation, and we must admitt, it is not always popular. We often find ourselves in a bit of a conundram. Torn between our personal faith and what we wish to accomplish with our paranormal research. We have come to the understanding recently that the two are not mutually exclusive. We know what we believe in our faith, and because it is faith, nothing will change what we believe. In the end, we may just end up seeing it from a different angle. With this in mind, our philosophy is as follows:
STATEMENT ONE
While our beliefs on the paranormal are influenced by our personal faith, we dedicate ourselves to the truthful search for knowledge and objective aquisition of evidence. No one stands to gain anything from evidence and/or conclusions skewed by religious bias.
STATEMENT TWO
We believe that vast majority of all alleged hauntings are the results of natural occurrences being misinterpreted as paranormal phenomena. In general, these can be explained with a little skepticism, and some investigation. It is also helpful to have a knowledge of buildings and structures and the engineering involved in them. We have a strong investigative team; each member with their own skills to contribute to a strong science based investigative process.
It boils down to this: Explain everything that can be explained naturally, and what is left might be paranormal.
STATEMENT THREE
All legitimate hauntings or paranormal activity fall into one of two categories:
-
-
Intelligent hauntings can then be divided into one of four more categoies:
-
-
-
-
This is not a comprehensive list, just a brief summary. There are many more classifications and theories regarding paranormal activity. We have chosen these because this basic classification system is simple and is a good quick reference.
STATEMENT FOUR
We believe that the use of Psychics, Mediums and/or Sensitives in the investigation of alleged paranormal activity must be done very carefully. The vast majority of this field is as of yet, far from well understood. Combining two subfields such as paranormal investigation and psychic research, if not done carefully and properly, can skew and convolute any evidence that may be gathered so that it cannot be confidently presented to teh community for consideration. For this reason, LPI is not against the use of Psychics, mediums and/or sensitives, however, any data or events logged as a result of thier intuition, are not presented as evidence, but rather only logged and studied as a part of our ongoing research.
STATEMENT FIVE
We believe that the client-investigator relationship does not end with the revealing of the evidence or lack there of. For the clients who still strongly believe they are experiencing paranormal activity even though we may not have found any evdence during an investigation, we understand that paranormal activity does not always happen on cue. Despite our best efforts, we may not catch any evidence at even the most haunted locations. Also, with the investigations where evidence was found, we understand that process of dealing with paranormal activity can be scary. Therefore, we will maintain contact with all of our clients, doing routine followups by phone or, if possible, in person, as well as remaining available for follow up investigations as needed, until the client feels they no longer have a need for our support and services.
